PGY-1 Residents, Class of 2029

James Kearfott, MD

My name is Dr. James Kearfott. I am from Columbus, Ohio. I attended Capital University for my undergraduate degree, studying Psychology. Furthering my education, I studied Anatomy and Physiology at University of Southern California, where I received my master’s degree. I then attended St. George’s University earning my doctorate. Mental health is a priority for me, and my patients. Along my educational journey, I have worked as a behavior therapist, primarily with children with autism, as well at a rehabilitation facility in Malibu. My passion for addiction and behavioral health, along with my desire to take care of patients holistically, attracted me to Elk Ridge Community Health Family Medicine residency program. When I am not studying, or working, I like to be outdoors such as hiking, biking, or swimming.

Babatunde Lawal, DO

My name is Dr. Tunde Lawal, and I am the most recent Texas transplant to make their way up to Flagstaff. I attended Texas Tech University for my undergraduate degree and later attended the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school. My interest in family medicine comes from my desire to care for and treat patients as whole people and build lasting relationships with them and their families. I am particularly interested in preventive medicine and sports medicine, and I love the variety that family medicine brings. I was drawn to Flagstaff because I wanted to build a life with my wife and son in a great community where we could put down roots while also serving the people around us. Elk Ridge Community Health Family Medicine Residency Program’s commitment to community-based care and caring for patients from all walks of life made this residency a great fit for me, and I am excited to grow as a physician while becoming part of the Flagstaff community. When I’m not studying or working, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing basketball, dominating fantasy football leagues, listening to music, or eating my way through Flagstaff to discover good local eats.

Adrienne Lee, MD

Hi! I’m Dr. Adrienne Lee. Every day, I have the gift of learning from dedicated colleagues who care deeply about our community and are very supportive and encouraging of our learning. I feel blessed to train in family medicine in Flagstaff. I attended medical school on the east coast at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. What I appreciate deeply about family medicine is getting to learn about and participate in the full spectrum of medicine and of life each day. In my free time, I enjoy listening to podcasts, lifting, running, and reading.

Aidan Waugh, MD

Hello! My name is Dr. Aidan Waugh, and I am from Los Angeles, California. I attended Princeton University for my undergraduate education, where I received a degree in microbiology and completed my dissertation on epigenetics involved in X chromosome inactivation. After graduating from Princeton, I attended the University of California San Francisco Post Baccalaureate Program where I prepared for medical school and contributed to a quality improvement project focusing on reducing radiation exposure from X rays at local dentist offices in San Francisco. After graduating from UCSF, I taught middle school and elementary school math and science classes as a substitute teacher. Afterwards, I was accepted into UC Davis School of Medicine where I co led the Imani Student Run Clinic and became the president of our SNMA chapter. After graduating from UC Davis School of Medicine, I spent some time during the residency application process teaching as an Anatomy and Biology professor at Santa Monica College. My passion for teaching and quality improvement projects really attracted me to Elk Ridge Community Health Program. I am excited to continue to explore my passions and learn more about our Flagstaff community! While I’m not working, I love playing board games. I am also a huge foodie, and I am always looking to learn more about local restaurants. Furthermore, I love playing basketball and I am currently getting into pickleball.

PGY-2 Residents, Class of 2028

Inna Amaryllis, MD

Hi, I’m Dr. Inna Amaryllis and I graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. I am interested in comprehensive primary care, LGBTQ+ health, and gender-affirming care, with a particular interest in improving access to inclusive and equitable healthcare. I was drawn to the residency program in Flagstaff and FQHC-based residency training because of the opportunity to care for a diverse community while learning to practice broad, community-oriented family medicine. I value using shared decision-making to create care plans that reflect each patient’s individual goals and needs. Outside of medicine, I enjoy language acquisition and exploring software and technology, especially finding creative ways to use them in everyday life.

Paige DeRemer-Young, DO, MPH

Hey there! I’m Dr. Paige DeRemer-Young. I’m originally from outside of Philadelphia, but Virginia is home for me now. I earned a bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of Richmond in 2015. For several years after college, I worked at a local OB/GYN practice. I decided to pursue a career in medicine after working closely with breast radiologists and a diverse population of patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer. After completing a pre-med post-bacc program at The George Washington University, I landed at A.T. Still Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. My undergraduate education in public health, osteopathic medical education, and rural community-based clinical rotations in the Ozarks of Missouri solidified my desire to practice medicine from a public health perspective. I took an extra year prior to graduating medical school to earn an MPH from The George Washington University. I chose Elk Ridge Community Health Family Medicine Residency program because I wanted to continue learning and practicing as a physician in an inclusive, community-based program with a large rural catchment area. I have been able to continue growing in my professional passions – wildland firefighter occupational health; LGBTQ+ care; sexual health and contraception; MAT and substance use; and care for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. When I’m not at work, you can usually find me hanging out with my partner (who is a wildlands firefighter!) and our 3 cats, doing yoga, or enjoying a good book with an iced latte.

Emily Hong, DO, MPH

My name is Dr. Emily Hong, and I am originally from the mountain town of Basalt, Colorado. I attended Wellesley College, where I studied Biochemistry and History. I then attended Midwestern University in Arizona for medical school, where I also earned a Master of Public Health. In 2025, I moved to Flagstaff for residency. Flagstaff has quickly become home and one of my favorite places! One of the things I value most about family medicine is its breadth. I enjoy caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds, from childhood through older adulthood, and helping people navigate everything from preventive care to complex and persistent symptoms. My approach to medicine is centered on partnership. I believe the best care begins with understanding not only a patient’s symptoms, but also their priorities, experiences, and goals. I strive to create a welcoming environment where every patient feels heard, respected, and comfortable being themselves. As an osteopathic physician, I deeply value the connection between physical, mental, and social well-being. I have absolutely loved my residency training at Elk Ridge and feel incredibly fortunate to learn alongside such a supportive community of co-residents, faculty, and staff. I also have the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Academy of Family Physicians (AzAFP) as Resident Director, where I represent resident physicians and advocate for patients, residents, and a stronger, more accessible healthcare system across Arizona. Outside of medicine, you can usually find me outdoors with my husband, our dog, and our friends. I love skiing, hiking, rock climbing, rafting, camping, and just about any excuse to spend time in nature!

Nancy Lopez-Romero, MD

Hi! I’m Dr. Nancy Lopez. I’m originally from El Salvador where I completed medical school the Universidad de El Salvador. I did my intern year at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, NY before moving to Flagstaff to complete my training. What I love most about family medicine is the opportunity to build a connection with my patients and the community. I’m particularly interested in both urgent care and primary care. Outside of medicine, I love eating and trying new foods, running, camping, and pretty much any outdoor activity. I always enjoy a good conversation over a cup of coffee or glass of wine!

PGY-3 Residents, Class of 2027

Marli Dunn, DO, Chief Resident

Hello! My name is Dr. Marli Dunn and am an Arizonan through and through! I was raised in Avondale, completed medical school in Glendale at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University, and am fortunate enough to continue to care for Arizonans in Flagstaff. I am passionate about family medicine because it allows me to form long-term relationships with my patients, and it has been a privilege to form these relationships throughout residency. Staying in my home state has allowed me to continue my commitment to my community and this state, and I am excited to work in this state for many years to come. Outside of medicine, I enjoy volunteering, playing board games, attending spring training games, and managing my fantasy baseball team.

Cambria LaCasse, DO

Hi! I’m Dr. Cambria LaCasse. I completed my undergraduate degree at Arizona State University in Genetics, Cell, and Developmental Biology before earning my medical degree from A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona. During medical school, I did clinical rotations with the residency program in Flagstaff and served as a principal investigator for a community-based research project. I chose to remain in northern Arizona for residency and continue serving the people of the region. I am passionate about providing comprehensive, whole-person care and addressing the social determinants of health. I have a particular interest in lactation services and providing compassionate, equitable care to everyone.

Octavio Olivas, DO

Hi! I’m Dr. Octavio Olivas Jr. I believe that great medicine starts with listening, building trust, and getting to know each patient as an individual. I earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from A.T. Still University and Master of Public Health from Grand Canyon University. I am passionate about preventive medicine, community health, and caring for individuals and families from all walks of life. As a bilingual English- and Spanish-speaking physician, I value the opportunity to connect with patients and help them feel heard, supported, and empowered in their health. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our Siberian Husky, staying active through running and racquetball, and enjoying the outdoors.

Anthony Paolucci, MD

Hey, my name is Dr. Anthony Paolucci. I’m originally from Northeast Ohio, but was drawn to northern Arizona after “love at first sight” upon seeing the Grand Canyon years ago. I earned my bachelor’s degree in biology from Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). Following my undergraduate education, I pursued medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University as my dream had always been to seek a career that felt as though I was helping people. It was in medical school that I discovered my love for family medicine. Seeing doctors have a chance to hear, know, and help their patients throughout their entire lives for any and all needs really spoke to me. Now, I am completing my family medicine residency training here in Flagstaff, Arizona where I get the privilege to try to be that kind of doctor for my patients. Outside of medicine, I am passionate about sports, especially college football and amateur wrestling. I love the simple, rooted things in life such as the outdoors and aim to spend my free time camping or off-roading with my dog and family. I’m thrilled to be here in northern Arizona and look forward to the opportunity to care for any and all in need!
