Residency Program

Program Director's Welcome

Welcome to the Family Medicine Residency Program at Elk Ridge Community Health! On behalf of our talented and diverse group of providers, administrative and clinical staff, I am excited to welcome you to our program based in  Flagstaff, Arizona. Family physicians provide the majority of care for America’s underserved and rural populations, and our primary goal in establishing this training program is to graduate exceptional family physicians who will increase the primary care workforce in northern Arizona.

Training at a Teaching Health Center

The Elk Ridge Community Health Family Medicine Residency Program prepares resident physicians for a lifelong career in family medicine. The program’s curriculum is focused on community needs, evidence-based medicine, and quality improvement in healthcare. Residents participate in a wide range of clinical experiences, including complex chronic disease management and prevention, HIV and Hepatitis C care, gender expansive care, substance use disorder management and point of care ultrasound.

“Choosing residency training at Elk Ridge Community Health is a choice to learn clinical medicine in the context of the community health center movement. The legacy of that movement is excellence in acute care, chronic care, preventive health services and wellness programs, and advocacy. It is clinical medicine that combines patient need with community need and always seeks to bring to the table all those within our community, to make sure everyone’s voice is heard and understood. It is a legacy that seeks to overcome disparities of care and disenfranchisement. By choosing Elk Ridge Community Health Family Medicine Residency you will be part of a Teaching Health Center, with eleven active residencies and student learner programs, committed to interdisciplinary learning experiences. We invite you to join us and become part of the legacy that is Elk Ridge Community Health.”
