Interviews will be virtual between October 2026 – January 2027. We have elected to have virtual interviews to reduce cost and travel burden for our applicants with the aim of improving equity and inclusion in the interview process. We will not offer more interviews than we have interview slots available.  

We will use program signals as part of a holistic review process to determine interviews. We will follow the AAMC’s guidance regarding signaling.

“The AAMC suggests applicants signal their most interested programs they are home (programs) or away rotations.” 

We are unable to sponsor J-1 Visa applicants. 

How to Apply: 

We welcome applicants from all educational and personal backgrounds. We hope to train residents who are committed to serving our community in line with the mission of Elk Ridge Community Health/El Rio Health. As a new program, we are looking for residents who are motivated to help build a lasting legacy for our  residency program. 

We accept applications via ERAS. We will start accepting applications in fall 2026 for our inaugural PGY-1 class, starting summer 2027.

Application requirements: 

1. While only Step 1 or COMLEX 1 is required to apply, applicants must successfully complete all parts (Steps) of the USMLE or COMLEX examinations with no more than 1 failure per exam.
2. Applicants must be able to carry out the duties as required by the residency program, with reasonable accommodation if needed.
3. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in comprehending, reading, writing, and speaking English in conversational and medical environments or topics.
4. Applicants must be able to reside continuously in the U.S. for the entire length of their training and be eligible to work in the US. We are unable to consider applicants requiring visa sponsorship or offer visa support at this time.
5. International graduates must be able to provide ECFMG certification.
6. We will only consider applicants who are no more than 1 year removed from clinical practice. 
7. Applicants must be eligible to obtain a level 1 fingerprint clearance card in the state of Arizona and must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
