J. Kurt Mueller, MD
Program Director
Dr. Mueller has lived in Flagstaff and practiced outpatient psychiatry for the general community in northern Arizona for over 25 years. He joined the project to create this psychiatry residency in 2023 and is thrilled to help bring it to fruition.
Adam Graff, MD
Core Faculty
Dr. Graff is a Child & Adolescent fellowship-trained psychiatrist working as a psychiatric hospitalist at Flagstaff Medical Center. He oversees treatment on the adolescent inpatient unit and also is active on the adult inpatient and consultation-liaison services at FMC. He has held senior leadership positions for behavioral health at FMC and is deeply committed to exceptional care.
Ernesto Figueroa, MD
Core Faculty
Dr. Figueroa is a psychiatric hospitalist working on the Psychiatric Acute Care unit at The Guidance Center (TGC). He brings deep compassion to his work in high- acuity psychiatric care. He is our site director for our inpatient rotation at TGC.
Chris Linskey, MD
Core Faculty
Dr. Linskey brings great enthusiasm to medical education rooted in over two decades of work in public psychiatry settings. He has expertise in rural psychiatric services delivery, inpatient psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and addiction psychiatry. He is Chief Medical Officer at The Guidance Center and our Site Director for several rotation there.
Sara Gibson, MD
Core Faculty
Dr. Gibson has been a nationally-recognized pioneer in delivering high-quality psychiatric care to rural Arizona via telehealth technology for over two decades. She will help oversee our comprehensive care residency outpatient clinic. In addition, she is an innovator in medical education and brings joy to every aspect of her work.
Teresa Bertsch, MD
Core Faculty
Dr. Bertsch has championed robust public psychiatric services in Northern Arizona for more than three decades: as clinical psychiatrist at The Guidance Center, as a population health expert shaping policy and care delivery, as innovative educator, and as a champion of clinician wellbeing statewide in Arizona. She is passionate about our residency program and played an important role in its creation and development.
Maria Smith
Program Coordinator
Maria moved to Flagstaff in 2022. She began her GME career as the medical student coordinator for ATSU-SOMA. She joined the psychiatry residency in 2024 and is very excited to be a part of this new program for northern Arizona.
